About this deal

Both the bass drum note, and drum note have to be played, although one can be hit without the other. You could glue the triggers to just about anything you wanted to hit and run the connection back to your drum hero kit. In Guitar Hero 5 and later games if a swell is dropped it can be played again by re-hitting the corresponding drum(s). I don't recommend this drum set if you are concerned about getting high scores, because I commonly drop notes on my 360 drum set. I know that I'm not going to get Roland quality performance out of these "toys," but I've seen some pretty decent youtubes of people playing around with their Rockband kits in Garageband.

You won't be able to access the drum tutorials in those games (since they were designed for the five lane GH drums) but you can still practice and play all the songs with no problems. If you pull gently on the wires while watching the sealant carefully you can tell which wires definitely need repaired. If you are a resident of another country or region, please select the appropriate version of Tripadvisor for your country or region in the drop-down menu.

If you've tested and verified that a certain instrument works with a certain music game on a certain platform, and we haven't mentioned it here, let us know in the comments.

I could simultaneously trigger all of those sounds on the Guitar Hero drums set and my standard set up, however I realized that the MIDI notes coming from the Guitar Hero drums are hardwired and not changeable. Star Power is gained the same as the guitars, by hitting all the star power notes in a star power sequence. But it's perfectly fine to stick with the Rock Band 2 drums, it's the best one on the market from Harmonix. In 4-lane Drums gameplay with a Rock Band drum kit, some changes would be made to convert 5-lane inputs to 4-lanes. I didn't want a false-positive type of hit to register, however, a gentle accidental contact should be ignored.

For the Wii Video Hardware system - optimized for Nintendo's standards, incorporates their proprietary wireless technology for the ultimate Guitar Hero experience. Guitar Hero 5/ Band Hero/ Warriors of Rock: The Guitar Hero drum kit's orange cymbal would be merged with the Rock Band drum kit's green pad. In terms of the Band Hero vs Guitar Hero World Tour drums, the PS2/PS3/Xbox 360 bundles of Band Hero include a drum set that looks identical to the GHWT drum set.

While the Rock Band drum set is far cheaper than the Rock Band 2 one, it's not quite as durable as the Rock Band 2 set. I was able to remap my standard kit pads to different empty MIDI notes on my TD-6 and then have Addictive Drums 2 learn those inputs so that my standard kit would play the expected snare, tom, kick etc and I would have 6 free additional pads to play with from the Guitar Hero set. We've had ample time with the Rock Band kit, but now we're taking a look at Guitar Hero's take on drums; does it live up to its hype? There is a thread running alongside this one posted by someone who is trying to figure out hi hat control on one of these kits. Because it had so play in the mounting the strike vibrations weren't fully transmitting to the element.

Elsewhere, despite Sony's claim a few months ago that the Rock Band 2 and GHWT instruments are cross-compatible, posters on the Rock Band forum claim their new PS3 drum-kits don't work with Rock Band 2. The hexagonal room was great as you are then looking at everyone else whilst you drum away and once you get that rhythm together, it's addictive!Overall I would recommend these drums, as they are not as prone to overhits and dropped hits as the older drums are. To the average player on the other hand, the Guitar Hero World Tour's stiff pads may be more work than they are worth. I haven't tried it as a wireless controller - it did cross my mind but it was so simple and quick to plug in via midi cable I didn't bother looking into it. In terms of compatibility, if you get the Rock Band 2 drums on the PS2/PS3, they should work on the Guitar Hero games that support drums (Guitar Hero World Tour, Metallica, Smash Hits, Van Halen, GH5, Band Hero). Only downside is it uses a wifi dongle to link to the PS3 and still seems to need this for the controller to work with my computer (no problem, just plug the dongle in to a spare usb port, but does mean it needs a spare port).
